Comedy Hack Day is weekend-long event where all of your funny app/website/SaaS solutions/Arduino-controlled ideas can become reality. Developers and comedians, united, finally!
Applications for the hackathon are now closed, however, tickets for the finals show at The Media Club are now available!
What: CHD Vancouver
Where: Lighthouse Labs, 300 - 128 W. hastings, Vancouver, BC
When: Nov 5-6, 2016, 9:30am
Who: Developers, designers, and comedians of all skill levels
Why: Because life is too short to spend your weekends working on non-funny apps :-)
How the event works
1. Ideas & Pitch
Every CHD begins with ideas. Participants pitch a whole bunch of stuff like this, teams form around the best ones, and everybody sets to work on building their apps. For help on formulating app ideas, check out the CHD guide Apis are for Closers.
2. Build & Prepare
At Saturday morning to Sunday afternoon is dedicated to building products, refining demos, and working up a solid musk inside a workspace. The whole objective is to quickly prototype a functioning piece of tech, and hash out a hilarious demo that showcases what it does.
3. The comedy show
CHD is not just a hackathon. Cuz no hackathon ends like this. An audience assembles, and the best teams take to the stage to demo before judges. A winner is crowned. More booze is consumed. Everybody feels happy.

What is a Comedy Hackathon?
Think of a regular hackathon (competition where developers make apps in a set amount of time), but with comedians replacing business-types. Goal is to make the funniest app to make it to the finals, where we'll throw tomatoes at any judge who asks about a business plan.
Do I need a team to attend?
No. You're welcome to come with one ahead of time, but Hackathons are a great way to meet developers in the community. At the beginning of the event, we'll have pitches for ideas where people can state their need for developers and teams organically form after that. If they don't form well enough some organizers will step-in to play matchmaker.
Do I need an Idea to attend?
It's a lot more fun if you come with your own idea, but a lot of hilarious ideas will be floating around. Plus, you can just join another team if you don't have one. Ideas tend to just be the start, making a truly hilarious app and presentation takes some work.
Do I need to be a developer, designer, or comedian?
Yes, however, we have a very broad definition for all. ie. you're a novice developer, still apply, just have something on your github account that makes us think you can contribute to a team.
If I'm attending the hackathon, do I need a separate ticket for the finals show?
No, whether you make the finals or not, all hackathon attendees can attend the finals presentation without an additional ticket.
